Abstract

The invention discloses a branching type aqueous polyurethane association type thickener and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method comprises: adding an isocyanate solution into dewatered polyethylene glycol in a dropwise manner, and carrying out a polymerization reaction to prepare a prepolymer; adding a catalyst and long-chain alkanol, and carrying out a semi-end-capping reaction;and cooling to a temperature of 50-80 DEG C, adding a chain extender, and carrying out a chain extension reaction to obtain the branching type aqueous polyurethane association type thickener. According to the present invention, the prepared branching type aqueous polyurethane association type thickener has a plurality of hydrophobic long chains in the structure, has the large molecular weight, andcan form the complete and stable hydrophobic association type network structure in an aqueous phase or an emulsion system, such that the branching type aqueous polyurethane association type thickenerhas strong thickening performance and good stability.
