Problems solved by technology

[0003] However, there is a problem that since the number of circulating tumor cells is very small (several to hundreds of cells / 1 mL of blood), it is difficult to capture such cancer cells
This technique involving an antigen-antibody reaction (capture by EpCAM antibody) can only capture EpCAM-expressing cancer cells, therefore, the types of cancer cells that can be captured are limited

Embodiment 1

[0073] Using azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN), 2-methoxyethyl acrylate was thermally polymerized at a temperature of 80°C for 6 hours to prepare poly(2-methoxyethyl acrylate) (molecular weight: Mn = about 15,000, Mw = about 50,000). Then, a 1.0% by mass solution of poly(2-methoxyethyl acrylate) in methanol was prepared.

[0074] This poly(2-methoxyethyl acrylate) solution (1% by mass) was poured into wells of a polystyrene 24-well plate, and left to stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. Thereafter, the solution was partially aspirated using a pipette, followed by drying to prepare a medical analysis device.

Embodiment 2

[0076] A medical analysis device was prepared as in Device Example 1, except that the concentration of the poly(2-methoxyethyl acrylate) solution was changed to 2.5% by mass.

Embodiment 3

[0078] A medical analysis device was prepared as in Device Example 1, except that the concentration of the poly(2-methoxyethyl acrylate) solution was changed to 5.0% by mass.

Abstract

The present invention provides a method for capturing specific cells (e.g. many types of cancer cells, including cancer cells not expressing EpCAM) and a method for analysis of specific cells involving the method. Included is a method for capturing specific cells present in blood or biological fluid, the method including: centrifuging sampled blood or biological fluid at a centrifugal force of 1000 to 3000 G; and capturing specific cells therefrom onto a hydrophilic polymer layer.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a method for capturing specific cells (for example, cancer cells present in blood or biological fluid) from blood or a biological fluid and a method for analyzing the specific cells. Background technique [0002] When cancer cells form, they are known to be present in blood or biological fluids at some point. Such cancer cells that appear in the blood are called "circulating tumor cells (CTCs)". Thus, it is contemplated that circulating tumor cells can be analyzed, for example, to evaluate the efficacy of cancer therapy, predict prognostic life expectancy, predict the effect of anticancer drugs prior to administration, or test treatments based on genetic analysis of cancer cells. [0003] However, there is a problem that since the number of circulating tumor cells is very small (several to hundreds of cells / 1 mL of blood), it is difficult to capture such cancer cells. [0004] For example, the CellSearch system is kno...
