The present inventions is an abutment for use with a dental implant. The abutment comprises a prosthetic portion adapted to support a prosthesis thereon and an insert. The prosthetic portion has a subgingival end and a supragingival region for protruding beyond gingiva adjacent to the dental implant. The prosthetic portion has a passageway extending therethrough. The passageway includes an enlarged retention groove and non-round section. The insert extends into the passageway and engages the subgingival end of the prosthetic portion. The insert includes flexible retention fingers that, upon insertion into the passageway, initially contract before reaching the enlarged retention groove and then expand outwardly into the enlarged retention groove to hold the insert onto the prosthetic portion. The insert also has a non-round section for mating with the non-round section of the passageway.

An abutment assembly device comprises an abutment for supporting a dental prosthesis. The abutment includes a supporting surface and an internal cavity with a rimmed opening, a hollow retainer wherein at least a portion of the retainer is flexible allowing that portion of the retainer to be inserted through the rimmed opening and snap into position retained by the rimmed opening. A screw for engaging the abutment assembly device with an implant is provided, comprising a screw body and a screw head, wherein the screw head is wider than the screw body so that when the screw is inserted trough the retainer and the retainer is retained by the rimmed opening, the screw head is retained by the retainer.

A system for tooth implantation having an implant part to be set into the jawbone, and an abutment part to which a tooth restoration is attached. The abutment part is screwed onto the implant part by an abutment screw, and a locking screw is disposed to lock the abutment screw to secure the abument part to the implant part to prevent loosening of the abutment. The threading interface between the lock screw and an abutment channel is matched in spiral direction but mismatched in thread timing with an interface between said abutment screw and an implant channel, thereby generating radial and axial locking forces.

A dental implant screw for holding an abutment on a dental implant includes a head and a shaft. A proximal end of the shaft is coupled to the head. The shaft includes a threaded section, an outwardly tapered section leading into a recessed section, and a stop section directly between the outwardly tapered section and the recessed section. The present invention describes a dental kit-of-parts comprising an implant abutment, a dental restoration and a screw. The head of the screw is provided in a recess formed in the kit-of-parts, with the screw shaft extending through a hole in the implant abutment. A channel in the dental restoration allows access to the screw head by a tool, wherein the diameter of the channel is smaller than the diameter of the screw head. A coronal surface of the projection is adapted to be substantially flush with a coronal end of the implant when the projection is fully inserted into the cavity. A dental crown cementation soft tissue and biologic attachment protective membrane has a dental membrane and a membrane carrier. The dental membrane is attached within the membrane carrier for easy manual manipulation.
