Abstract

The invention relates to a process for manufacturing an aluminum zirconium intermediate alloy, in particular to a method for manufacturing the aluminum zirconium intermediate alloy by alloying zirconium crumbs and aluminum at a low temperature. In the method, metal zirconium crumbs and zirconium generated in the process of machining zirconium products are used to manufacture the aluminum zirconium intermediate alloy by alloying at the low temperature. The method comprises the following steps of: alloying molten aluminum and the zirconium crumbs; performing rotary degassing by using argon or nitrogen; when each 100g of aluminum comprises 0.2 to 0.3ml of hydrogen, filtering by using a 10 to 20ppi alumina ceramic filter board; removing foreign impurities from the molten alloy; and casting the molten aluminum alloy into ingots. The method of the invention has the advantages of reusing waste zirconium crumbs discarded after processing, producing the aluminum zirconium intermediate alloy at a low alloying temperature, avoid burning loss, oxidization and air absorption of the alloy, and improving the quality of the aluminum zirconium intermediate alloy.
