Abstract

The invention discloses a microbial electrolytic system and method integrating biological treatment of wastewater and promotion of methane recovery. The system comprises an external power supply, wherein a cathode and an anode which are connected with the power supply are respectively arranged in left and right electrode chambers, the two electrode chambers are isolated by a cation exchange membrane, a magnetic stirrer is arranged at the bottom to stir, and a methane collecting opening is additionally formed at the cathode. In an experiment, wastewater and sludge are added into both the cathode and the anode; microorganisms in the anode chamber obtain energy by decomposing organic matters in the wastewater and transfer electrons and hydrogen ions generated in the reaction process to the cathode chamber; microorganisms in the cathode chamber generate methane by decomposing organic matters; and due to current flowing, the degradation efficiency of wastewater and the yield of methane are greatly improved.
