Abstract

The invention discloses an asphalt composition and a preparation method thereof. The asphalt composition is prepared from styrene-butadiene-styrene segmented copolymer modified asphalt and rubber powder, wherein the styrene-butadiene-styrene segmented copolymer modified asphalt and rubber powder is prepared by modifying matrix asphalt with styrene-butadiene-styrene segmented copolymer, sulfide stabilizer and aromatic oil; and the asphalt composition is prepared from the following components based on 100 weight parts of matrix asphalt: 3-10 parts of styrene-butadiene-styrene segmented copolymer, 2-12 parts of aromatic oil, 0.3-1 part of sulfide stabilizer and 5-25 parts of rubber powder. The asphalt composition has a dynamic viscosity of 30000-100000Pa.S at 60 DEG C and an elastic recovery of more than 90 percent at 25 DEG C, and is 82-28 according to AASHTO M320 detected PG gradation. The asphalt composition has excellent high elasticity, high viscosity and excellent low-temperature performance.
