Abstract

A goaf fire prevention and extinguishing device capable of generating carbon dioxide through self-reaction and a method thereof belong to the field of spontaneous combustion disaster prevention and control for underground coal mine. The device of the invention comprises a sealable tank, an isolation sheet, a porous skeleton pad, an energy release sheet, a hollow spiral cover, solid sodium bicarbonate and acetic acid aqueous solution. The sealable tank is isolated by a POE sheet and the porous skeleton pad into a solid tank for containing the solid sodium bicarbonate and a liquid tank for containing the acetic acid aqueous solution. The sealable tank is placed in the goaf. When residual coal is oxidized and ignited spontaneously to reach a specific temperature, the POE sheet reaches a molten state to burst, the two reactants contact to undergo an endothermic reaction, and lots of carbon dioxide is generated to expand 100-140 times in volume greater than the volume of the sealable tank.Then, the generated high pressure makes the energy release sheet at the end of the sealable tank to be burst and then the carbon dioxide gas is released so as to inhibit spontaneous combustion of residual coat in the goaf. The device of the invention has the following advantages: the device is simple and small in size, and the method is easy to operate.
