Abstract

The present invention relates to an electrolyte composition for lighium-sulfur batteries, wherein, the lighium-sulfur batteries comprise at least one anode and at least one cathode containing sulfide.The electrolyte composition comprises at least one lithium salt, at least one non-aqueous solvent and at least one added polysulfide. According to the invention, the lithium salt is a lithium nitrate. The invention also relates to a lithium sulphur battery comprising the electrolyte compositions and a purpose for enhancing the cycling stability of lithium-sulfur batteries by utilizing the lithiumnitrate and bonding with at least one polysulfide.
