The preparation method comprises the following steps: coating thesurface of a lithium-rich manganese-based material with Fe4(PO4)3(OH)3, wherein the mass ratio of the lithium-rich manganese-based material to the Fe4(PO4)3(OH)3 is 95:5-99:1. The invention also provides the lithium-rich manganese-based composite material obtained by the above preparation method. The lithium-rich manganese-based composite material can be used as a positive electrode material of abattery, and has relatively good high-rate performance, relatively high first-cycle coulombic efficiency and good cycle performance.
