Abstract

The invention relates to a preparation method of metal chromium powder, in particular to a method for preparing metal chromium powder by reducing chromium oxide by a two-step method, and belongs to the field of ferrous metallurgy. At present, the main method of industrial preparation of metal chromium is aluminothermic reduction or an electrolytic method, and the methods have the problems of low chromium recovery, high production cost and small production scale respectively. The method comprises the steps of using chromic oxide (Cr2O3) powder, a carbonaceous reducing agent and magnesium powderas raw materials, and generating a mixture of metal chromium and chromic oxide (Cr2O3) by vacuum high temperature carbon thermal reduction reaction under certain conditions; after crushing and grinding the obtained mixture, mixing suitable amount of magnesium for magnesiothermic reduction and deoxidation; and carrying out acid-leaching, filtering, rinsing and drying for a magnesiothermic reduction product, and thus obtaining pure metal chromium powder.
