Method for reducing radioactivity of red mud

A technology of radioactivity and red mud, applied in chemical instruments and methods, sludge treatment, climate sustainability, etc., can solve the problem that radioactivity cannot be controlled or reduced, there is no good solution for red mud radioactivity, and the use effect is not ideal problems such as low production cost, low radioactivity, and simple preparation process

Problems solved by technology

Because red mud contains harmful substances such as alkali and is also radioactive, it has not been well utilized. Although there are some technologies that use red mud to make fired bricks and unburned bricks, such as Chinese patent 92104133.0 discloses a red mud composite brick and preparation methods, but in the prior art, there is no good solution to the radioactivity of red mud
The radioactivity of products made of red mud cannot be controlled or reduced. If too much red mud is added, or the radioactivity of the red mud material used is relatively high, the radioactivity of the obtained red mud composite brick will exceed the national standard, so the use effect not ideal

Embodiment 1

[0012] Example 1 of the present invention: by weight, add 1 part of barium sulfate powder to 100 parts of red mud for mixing, grind to 150 mesh by ball mill, add 8 parts of lime to mix, grind again to 150 mesh, and then accumulate and precipitate After 8 hours, the pH value of the red mud was detected, and an appropriate amount of industrial waste sulfuric acid was added to neutralize the pH value of the red mud to obtain building materials that can be used directly.

Embodiment 2

[0013] Example 2 of the present invention: by weight, add 2 parts of barium sulfate powder to 100 parts of red mud for mixing, grind to 250 mesh by ball mill, add 9 parts of lime to mix, grind again to 250 mesh, and then accumulate and precipitate After 12 hours, building materials that can be used directly are obtained.

Embodiment 3

[0014] Example 3 of the present invention: by weight, add 3 parts of barium sulfate powder to 100 parts of red mud for mixing, grind to 200 mesh by ball mill, add 10 parts of lime to mix, grind again to 200 mesh, and then accumulate and settle After 10 hours, the pH value of the red mud was detected, and an appropriate amount of industrial waste sulfuric acid was added to neutralize the pH value of the red mud to obtain building materials that can be used directly.

Abstract

The invention discloses a method for reducing radioactivity of red mud, in which barium sulfate powder is added into the red mud and then mixed together; after being milled by a ball miller, the limeis added into the mixture, then mixed and milled again to obtain construction material which can be directly used. The invention has the advantages that: the barium sulfate powder is added into the red mud to effectively reduce the radioactivity of the red mud; when the red mud is determined to use as the construction material, the radioactivity can not exceed the national standard. The barium sulfate powder and the red mud are mixed to immediately reduce the radioactivity of the red mud by 10-20 percent; through precipitating for 8-12 hours, the radioactivity of the red mud is further reducedby around 20 percent; the construction material of the red mud prepared at last is detected and the radioactivity is between 0.4-0.8 percent which is below the national standard. Compared with priorart, the invention has the advantages of effectively reduce the radioactivity of the red mud , simple preparation process, low production cost and so on.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method for reducing red mud radioactivity, and belongs to the technical field of red mud recycling. Background technique [0002] Red mud is an industrial solid waste discharged after refining alumina from bauxite. Generally, it contains a large amount of iron oxide, and its appearance is similar to red soil, hence the name. Physical properties of red mud: particle diameter 0.088-0.25mm, specific gravity 2.7-2.9, bulk density 0.8-1.0, melting point 1200-1250°C. To produce 1 ton of alumina, 0.6 to 2.0 tons of red mud must be discharged. Because red mud contains harmful substances such as alkali and is also radioactive, it has not been well utilized. Although there are some technologies that use red mud to make fired bricks and unburned bricks, such as Chinese patent 92104133.0 discloses a red mud composite brick and preparation methods, but in the prior art, there is no good solution to the radioactivity of red mud.
