Abstract

The invention relates to a method for preparing hydroxypropyl methacrylate. The method comprises the following steps of: putting 1,000 ml four-mouth flask on water bath, wherein a stirrer, a thermometer, a reflux condenser and a constant-pressure drop funnel are arranged in the 1,000 ml four-mouth flask; adding ferric oxide, hydroquinone and methacrylic acid into the four-mouth flask; heating the mixture to the temperature of between 80 and 85 DEG C in the water bath, stirring for 1.5 hours and dripping propylene oxide into the mixture by using the constant-pressure drop funnel; after the dripping is finished, continuing the reaction for 1 hour at the temperature of between 80 and 85 DEG C; and transferring the reactant into a Kolle distillation flask, adding a proper amount of hydroquinone again, performing reduced pressure distillation and collecting fraction, namely the finished product, at the temperature of between 73 and 77 DEG C under the pressure of 4 to 5 mmHg.
