The biomass charcoal-based seedling growing matrix comprises, by volume, 35-45% of biomass charcoal, 25-35% of earthworm manure, 5-10% of pyroligneous liquor, 10-20% of perlite and 5-10% of vermiculite. Agricultural wastes such as cob, rice husk, peanut hull, straw and a domestic fungus matrix as main raw materials are subjected to high temperature anoxic carbonization to form the biomass charcoal. The biomass charcoal replaces base raw material turf commonly used in seedling growth so that a seedling growth cost is greatly reduced, over-exploitation of non-renewable resource turf is reduced, and ecological continuous development is kept.
