The gas-phase rotary heat exchanger comprises a main heat exchanger and a waste heat recovery heat exchanger, which are connected in series, wherein a flue gas outlet of the main heat exchanger is connected to a tube-side inlet of the waste heat recovery heat exchanger through a flue gas pipeline; a shell-side outlet of the waste heat recovery heat exchanger is connected to a preheated air inlet of the main heat exchanger; a rotary drum-type heat exchange chamber is arranged in the middle of a housing of the main heat exchanger; air-flow distribution chambers comprise air collection chambers and air flow channels; the ends of a bundle of flue gas tubes are fixedly connected with the air collection chambers of the air flow distribution chambers at two ends of the housing respectively; the rotary drum type heat exchange chamber is provided with a rotary drum; spiral guide vanes are mounted on the inner side wall of the rotary drum; a driven gear ring is mounted on the outer side of the rotary drum; the driven gear ring is connected with a gear ring driving mechanism; drum rotation supporting mechanisms are symmetrically arranged on two sides of the driven gear ring; and magnetic fluid sealing mechanisms are arranged at the joints of the rotary drum and the gas distribution chambers.
