Abstract

The invention relates to a novel use of epigallocatechin gallate, namely an application of the epigallocatechin gallate in preparation of a medicine for prawn white spot syndrome control. The application is advantageous in that tests prove that the epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) can antagonize invasion infection of WSSV viruses and can control the prawn white spot syndrome. Artificial infection tests prove that the death rate of prawns infected with the WSSV viruses shows a decreasing trend along with increases of the EGCG concentration, and the death rate of prawns when the EGCG concentration during toxic material elimination is 20 [mu]g/mL and 40 [mu]g/mL is only about 20%.
