The preparation method comprises the steps: reacting pasty oleic acid and potassium hydroxide in a water phase to prepare out a potassium oleate solution and concentrating under condition of 70 to 80 DEG C to prepare out flowable thick potassium oleate; mixing urea with an alcohol solution, stirring under condition of 70 to 90 DEG C and forming a thermal saturated urea-alcohol solution after the urea is completely dissolved; adding the thick potassium oleate into the urea-alcohol solution under a thermal-insulation state, fully stirring to form an even transparent solution, keeping stirring, cooling to -5 to 0 DEG C, keeping low temperature for 1 to 3h to separate the potassium oleate out, filtering the separated-out hard potassium oleate powder and blowing solid part by dry and cold air to obtain finished product of solid powdery potassium oleate. According to the preparation method disclosed by the invention, high-purity solid powdery potassium oleate hardly containing any moisture is prepared by a urea adduction method, excellent water solubility of the urea and the alcohol and effumability of the alcohol are utilized, the saturated urea-alcohol solution is utilized to absorb moisture in the potassium oleate, and finally the solid loose powdery potassium oleate is obtained.
