The present invention also provides an application of a berberine and sennoside compound composition in drugs for treating diabetes. The provided traditional Chinese medicine composition is clear in traditional Chinese medicinal effect components, that is, standard substances, consistent or more remarkable in curative effects than traditional Chinese medicines, controllable in quality, small in dosage, and an extension product of basic theories of traditional Chinese medicines.Besides, the sennosine A in the traditional Chinese medicine composition can counteract an inhibitory effect of the berberine, a main medicinal effect component of coptidis rhizome, on peristalsis ofthe large intestine.
