The invention also discloses an application of the phosphorus-containing flame-retardant resin prepared by the preparation method, which comprises the following steps: carrying out melt blending granulation on the phosphorus-containing flame-retardant resin, EDTA metal chelate, alkyl phosphinic acid metal salt and PET resin, and carrying out melt spinning to prepare the flame-retardant fiber. The phosphorus-containing flame-retardant resin prepared by the invention can form multiple synergistic flame-retardant effects with EDTA metal chelate and alkyl phosphinate, so thatthe problem of instability when a phosphorus flame retardant is applied to polyester flame-retardant modification is solved; the limit oxygen index of the flame-retardant fiber prepared from the phosphorus-containing flame-retardant resin is greater than or equal to 30, and the UL94 flame-retardant grade reaches the V0 grade.
