To provide a new method for production by which a fluorine-containing ether compound can be obtained with high selectivity in a relatively short time and a post-treating step is simple. The method for producing the fluorine-containing ether compound represented by general formula (III): Rf-CH2-O-CF2-CHR1R2(wherein, Rf is a perfluoroalkyl group, a polyfluoroalkyl group, a perfluoroaryl group or a polyfluoroaryl group; and R1and R2are each a hydrogen atom, a fluorine atom, a chlorine atom, a bromine atom, an alkoxy group, a perfluoroalkyl group, a polyfluoroalkyl group, a perfluoroaryl group or a polyfluoroaryl group) is carried out as follows.
