The invention relates to a composition comprising isoflavones from red clover. The red clover extract has been fermented to obtain a composition comprising aglycone isoflavones. The fermentation is preferably performed by a lactic acid bacteria or fermented dandelion extract.

FIELD OF INVENTION

[0001] The invention relates to a composition comprising red clover extract. The red clover extract has been fermented to obtain a composition comprising the aglycone form of isoflavones. The fermentation is preferably performed by a lactic acid bacteria.BACKGROUND

[0002] The human menopause is associated with increased risk of osteoporosis, negative changes in lipid status, cardiovascular events, vasomotor symptoms and reduced quality of life. The aetiology of these effects is thought to derive from the deficiency and / or dysregulation of normal estrogen homeostasis caused by the menopause. Hormone replacement therapy with estrogen has proven to be effective in treating osteoporosis and vasomotor symptoms associated with the menopause.
