A method for applying at least one RFID product tag to each of a plurality of products and to a product-containing container. Each product, case, or box is first unloaded from a container (e.g. pallet, tote, crate) or passed directly from manufacturing onto a conveyor whereon each item receives at least one RFID tag. Each RFID tag is then verified. Multiple items are then re-stacked in a container. An RFID tag is applied to the container and then the RFID tags are verified again before the container is shipped. Serialized numbers corresponding to products and containers are assigned and tracked. EPC data is stored on, or associated with, each RFID tag. RFID tags are verified to detect faulty placement and non-functionality. Non-functioning and poorly placed RFID tags are replaced before passing verification. The slap-and-ship line can handle execute-and-record methods and synchronized execution methods of handling product and associated data.

An insulated food crate comprises a generally rectangular, typically cardboard box having separable top and bottom portions with double walls providing insulative properties and also insulating inserts fitted into the top and bottom portions. The box may also have ventilation holes or slots and/or compartments for serving utensils and may be disposable. A long life, low cost, high-temperature, high efficiency thermoelectric module. Preferred embodiments include a two-part (a high temperature part and a cold temperature part) egg-crate and segmented N legs and P legs, with the thermoelectric materials in the three segments chosen for their chemical compatibility or their figure of merit in the various temperature ranges between the hot side and the cold side of the module. The legs include metal meshes partially embedded in thermoelectric segments to help maintain electrical contacts notwithstanding substantial temperature variations. In preferred embodiments a two-part molded egg-crate holds in place and provides insulation and electrical connections for the thermoelectric N legs and P legs. The high temperature part of the egg-crate is comprised of a ceramic material capable of operation at temperatures in excess of 500° C. and the cold temperature part is comprised of a thermoplastic material having very low thermal conductivity.

A crate apparatus suitable for housing and transporting dogs and other animals includes a crate body having a front wall, back wall, two side walls, a top, and a bottom.
