The present invention is directed a computer-implemented method for determining a color matched repair paint formula, wherein color characteristics of a target color to be matched are identified, inputted, and processed in such way as to enable a visual display of the target color, then alternate color(s) is/are selected from a color database based upon color characteristics of the target color to be matched, then subsequently processed and visually displayed thus enabling comparison of the alternate color(s) with the target color; and finally, a desired alternate color is selected and a formulation determined thereof. Further, the target color may be superimposed over an image of a vehicle to be repaired, and alternate candidate may even be superimposed over the target color in the area of the vehicle to be repaired, in order to assist the user with selecting the best match.

A spectrophotometric scanner suitable for producing spectral reflectance images of surfaces of samples for a plurality of wavelength bands is disclosed. The spectrophotometric scanner comprises a scanner head for collecting spectral reflectance data, a positioning mechanism for positioning the scanner head in relation to a surface, and a computing device for controlling the mechanism and recording and analyzing the spectral reflectance data. The computing device directs the positioning mechanism to position the scanner head on a row of locations in a grid of locations of the surface; directs the scanner head to measure spectral reflectance data for each location in the row of locations; records and analyzes the spectral reflectance data; and produces spectral reflectance images from the spectral reflectance data. A light source in the scanner head comprises a plurality of sequentially controllable LEDs, each producing light in a different wavelength band.

This invention provides a novel methods and devices for measurement of particle concentration or changes in particle concentration over a wide linear range. The invention comprises one or more radiation sources and one or more detectors contained in a housing which is interfaced to a medium containing particulate matter. The one or more radiation sources are directed into the medium, scattered or transmitted by the particulate matter, and then some portion of the radiation is detected by the one or more detectors. Methods for confining the measurement to a specific volume within the medium are described. Algorithms are provided for combining the signals generated by multiple source-detector pairs in a manner that results in a wide linear range of response to changes in particle concentration. In one embodiment the sensor provides non-invasive measurements of biomass in a bioreactor. In another embodiment an immersible probe design is described, which may be suited for one-time use. In an addition embodiment, a sensor is provided which is well suited to the rapid sequential measurement of particle concentration in multiple vessels, such as assessment of biomass in series of shake flasks.

The present invention provides a simple interactive device intended to be used by the customer for acquiring an image of the customer, interactively allowing the customer to try on virtual shades of lipstick, makeup, color contacts, hair color, and/or apparel at the same time to change their appearance. Hence, a first chart is formed from an image of a uniform density of a region to be evaluated, and data associated with the spectral reflectances of plural points on the first chart are input. The color chart includes an arrangement of multiple color samples that include colored areas representing colors in a color space. A disposable device for monitoring exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVR) over a single period of time and a cumulative period of time. The device includes a base upon which is applied a UVR sensitive material that irreversibly changes after exposure to UVR. A protective covering is applied over the UVR sensitive material and includes segments that are individually removable to reveal a portion of the UVR sensitive material thereunder. A UVR exposure scale and first and second keys are provided on the base. A first segment of the covering is removed and the base is placed in an appropriate location. After a period of time, the change in the UVR sensitive material is compared to the scale and first key to determine if the level of exposure is safe for that time period. The procedure may be repeated over a number of time periods with a new segment of the protective covering being removed for each time period. The cumulative UVR exposure is determined by comparing the change in the first time period's UVR sensitive material to the scale and a second key associated therewith.

A color calibration job identification system and method are provided, wherein the job identification data is encoded on a printed page, in a patch code, along with color targets, according to a protocol and format approximately identical to a format of the color targets. The patch code comprises a first portion, including a start code, and a second portion, including job identification data. In one embodiment, a diagnostic system for biological samples is disclosed. The diagnostic system includes a diagnostic instrument, and a portable electronic device. The diagnostic instrument has a reference color bar and a plurality of chemical test pads to receive a biological sample. The portable electronic device includes a digital camera to capture a digital image of the diagnostic instrument in uncontrolled lightning environments, a sensor to capture illuminance of a surface of the diagnostic instrument, a processor coupled to the digital camera and sensor to receive the digital image and the illuminance, and a storage device coupled to the processor. The image quality within the range is evaluated based on the distances and differences.

A method for processing imaging signals of the multispectral imaging color measurement is also proposed.
