Abstract

The invention discloses a laser crystal near a wavelength of 2.9 microns and a preparation method thereof. The molecular formula of the crystal is Tm, Ho, Pr:LuxY3-xAG or Cr, Tm, Ho, Pr:LuxY3-xAG, in Tm, Ho, Pr :LuxY3-xAG, Tm3+ as a sensitizing ion transfers the absorbed pump light energy to the active ion Ho3+; in Cr,Tm,Ho,Pr:LuxY3-xAG, Cr3+ first transfers the absorbed pump light energy to Tm3+ , Tm3+ then transfers energy to Ho3+, and finally through the transition between the two energy levels of Ho3+ ions 5I6 and 5I7, laser light with a wavelength near 2.9 microns can be realized.
