Abstract

The invention provides a gesture identification method and device based on depth images and a method and device for starting a man-machine interaction system. The gesture identification method includes the steps of detecting a three-dimensional movement track of a hand candidate area based on a depth image sequence of a hand area, and identifying a preset gesture according to the three-dimensional movement track of the hand candidate area. According to the method and device of the gesture identification method, movement information in continuous identification images is made full use of; due to the facts that a skin color model is not used and gesture identification is carried out by means of time-space domain movement information of the continuous images and continuous depth value change information, robustness of the gesture identification method is good, influences of light conditions are small, and due to the fact that gesture identification is carried out on the basis of the movement tracks, the gesture identification method and device can be used in a relative long distance range.
