Abstract

The invention discloses an application of patchouli alcohol in preparation of a drug or a health-caring product for male sexual dysfunction and discloses that the patchouli alcohol has a treating function on a vascular ED rat model, can significantly reduce an erection incubation period and increase erection times of ED rats and has a dose-dependent effect. Meanwhile, the invention discloses a mechanism of the patchouli alcohol in treatment of the male sexual dysfunction, namely, the patchouli alcohol can enhance a diastolic function of penis smooth muscle and can promote NO releasing level of penis vascular smooth muscle, thereby causing relaxation of cavernous body, which is different from other conventional medicine for treating the male sexual dysfunction. The invention provides a new medicinal application of the patchouli alcohol, provides a new medicine for the male sexual dysfunction and further provides a new preventing and treating approach for the male sexual dysfunction. In addition, the invention also proves that the patchouli alcohol not only is good in preventing and treating effect on the male sexual dysfunction but also is high in safety and practicability.
