Abstract

A water treating agent and a preparing method thereof are provided. The water treating agent is prepared from following components by weight: 50-70 parts of lignite-based activated carbon, 20-30 parts of polyaluminium chloride, 5-15 parts of nanometer zinc oxide, 3-7 parts of carboxamidine and 2.5-3.5 parts of coal tar. The water treating agent has good removal functions for degradation-resistant organic matters in waste water. The COD content of waste water treated by using the water treating agent can be stably controlled below 100 mg / L, and reaches primary integrated waste water discharge standards of national regulations in China.
