The method comprises the steps that zirconium oxychloride and yttrium nitrate are added into a polyvinyl alcohol solution, the mixture is stirred to be uniform, then a glutaraldehyde solution is added, and the mixture is stirred for 8-15 min at the temperature of 40-50 DEG C to obtain gel, wherein the molar ratio of zirconium oxychloride to yttrium nitrate is 97 to 3; the gel is taken out for standing before being cut into blocks, placed in ammonium hydroxide to be soaked for 15-20 hours and then dried and calcined to obtain the yttria-stabilized zirconia powder.
