Abstract

The invention discloses a method for breeding golden yellow snakeheads. Mutant genes of golden yellow snakehead individuals formed by body color variation are fixed in a continuous inbreeding manner;and breeding is performed after 3-4-generation breeding. The method comprises the steps of parent selection and breeding; population-closing sub-generation breeding, wherein the golden yellow individuals with the body color variation are positively and negatively mated with the snakeheads with the same variant body colors to breed paternal and maternal lines; selecting the golden yellow individuals from offsprings of the paternal and maternal lines to be mated, and taking the individuals with the consistent body colors as a new variety or a strain breeding 0 generation; adopting a random mating mode of avoiding sib mating for offsprings of the 0 generation, and selecting and remaining the male and female snakeheads with determination indexes meeting the seed selection requirements and theconsistent variant body colors as next generation parents; and carrying out expanding propagation and popularization. The method overcomes the defects of single and relatively black body color, smallpopulation, low fertilization rate, high death rate and weak disease resistance of existing common snakehead varieties; and a foundation is laid for future development of other new snakehead variety breeding, and materials are provided for body color related genetic engineering research.
