In one embodiment, the architecture of the present invention allows for a unified general purpose processor. Having the transform processing unit interact directly with the input and output and store directly in the transform block has several advantages. Registers are the storage units with the fastest response time and can be accessed directly within the transform block. This allows for the simplification of very performant computation pipelines, where input data is also directly inserted into transform blocks, which are processed at high speed by other transform blocks, and finally output almost directly to the output device.
