The method comprises the following steps of: reacting sodium sulfide and sodium carbonate contained in alkali sulfide waste residue obtained by a method for producing sodium sulfide serving as a byproduct of barium sulfate with calcium hydroxide to obtain a mixture which contains sodium hydroxide, calcium carbonate and calcium sulfide; separating the sodium hydroxide from the calcium carbonate and the calcium sulfide by filtering; preparing solution of sodium hydroxide obtained by filtering into a caustic soda product; purifying a mixture which consists of the calcium carbonate and the calcium sulfide and is obtained by filtering and mixing the purified mixture and the sodium carbonate; reacting the calcium sulfide with the sodium carbonate to obtain a mixture which contains the calcium carbonate and the sodium sulfide; separating the calcium carbonate from the sodium sulfide by filtering; preparing solution of sodium sulfide obtained by filtering into a sodium sulfide product; and purifying the filtered calcium carbonate product to obtain a calcium carbonate product. The method has the advantages of eliminating the pollution of the sodium sulfide in the alkali sulfide waste residue on the environment, effectively utilizing the potential value of the alkali sulfide waste residue, changing waste materials into things of value and having high practical value.
