Abstract

The invention discloses a water retaining agent for growth of plant roots. The water retaining agent is prepared from the components of carboxymethyl starch, naphthylacetic acid, indoleacetic acid, vitamin B1, nicotinic acid, 6-aminopurine phosphate, nitrogen, phosphor and potassium. The water retaining agent has the advantages of high stability, high gel strength, long period of validity (2 to 3years), moisture absorption during rainfall and moisture release during drought. The water absorption is highly reversible, and 80 to 95 percent of the absorbed moisture can be absorbed by nursery stocks. Thus, the recovery and the growth of the plant roots are promoted, and the water retaining effect and the fertility conserving effect are showed. The water retaining agent improves the survival rate and the conservation rate of forestation and ensures the growth of the seedlings. The water retaining agent is particularly suitable for plant restoration projects at arid regions and dry-hot regions.
