The method comprises the steps that: (a) raw materials of wood-based activated carbon powder, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene powder, mesoporous molecular sieve powder, 5A molecular sieve powder, and a pore forming agent are mixed, wherein a weight ratio of wood-based activatedcarbon powder to ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene powder to mesoporous molecular sieve powder to 5A molecular sieve powder to the pore forming agent is 80 to 250:200 to 400:100 to 350:100 to 350:50 to 150; (b) the mixture obtained from the step (a) is pressed, sintered and cooled in a mold. With the prepared filter medium, a removal rate of caffeine in water is high. The filter medium is suitable to be used in caffeine-polluted drinking water.
