A Mixed Meal Tolerance Test (or MMTT for short) tells doctors how much insulin your body is still making. It involves drinking a special drink called ‘BOOST’ that tastes like a milkshake, and contains protein, fat and carbohydrates.

Method for improving intestinal health of broiler chickens by using earthworm powder and application thereof

PendingCN122250552ADigestive systemAnimal feeding stuffBiotechnologyNutritional deficiency
This invention provides a method and application for improving the intestinal health of broilers using earthworm powder, belonging to the field of animal nutrition and feed technology. This invention solves the problems of poor growth performance, impaired intestinal health, and soybean meal substitution caused by nutritional deficiencies in broiler mixed meal diets. It includes the following steps: (1) raising earthworms in a substrate formed by mixing fermented chicken manure and Chinese medicine residue at a mass ratio of 2:3, and adding 2000 ppm sodium citrate to the substrate, controlling the substrate humidity at 50% to 55% and the temperature at 23 to 25°C; (2) preparing earthworm powder by freeze-drying the earthworms obtained in step (1) after disinfection; (3) replacing part of the soybean meal with 5.0% to 5.5% of the protein such as earthworm powder in the mixed meal broiler diet, and feeding the broilers. This invention significantly improves the growth performance, feed conversion ratio, immune function, intestinal digestive enzyme activity, intestinal morphology and barrier function of broilers, and optimizes the cecal microbiota, ultimately achieving efficient reduction and substitution of soybean meal and healthy and efficient broiler breeding.

A bio-fermented vegetable tail feed for mutton sheep and its preparation method

PendingCN122296394ASheep farmingAnimal science
This invention belongs to the field of feed preparation technology, and relates to a bio-fermented feed for meat sheep made from vegetable waste and its preparation method. Specifically, it includes mixing vegetable waste, crop straw, corn cobs, rapeseed meal, and cottonseed meal; preparing a bio-activated liquid by shaking and expanding a mixed bacterial solution with molasses, trace elements, and vitamins; and finally mixing the above components, spraying the bio-activated liquid, and then anaerobically fermenting to obtain the finished product. This invention, through multi-strain synergistic and tiered fermentation, effectively breaks down the cell wall structure of vegetable waste and straw, degrades anti-nutritional factors in the mixed meal, and significantly improves feed digestibility and protein utilization. The resulting feed is nutritionally balanced, palatable, and can be stored stably for a long time, realizing the high-value utilization of agricultural by-products and is suitable for widespread application in meat sheep farming.
