To provide a diaphragm for a speaker, with appropriate energy-loss beneficial to the quality of the generated speech.SOLUTION: A diaphragm 400a includes, from top to bottom, an upper surface region 410a, a
central region 430a, and a lower surface region 450a. The upper surface region, the
central region, and the lower surface region are all made of a homogeneous amorphous material, and the homogeneous amorphous material includes
silicon dioxide. The diaphragm is a hard, homogeneous, amorphous material with a variable
internal stress, and the stress varies with the depth from the surface to the center of the diaphragm. The thickness d1 of the upper surface region 410a is preferably about 0.01 to 20 micrometers, and similarly, the thickness d1 of the lower surface region 450a is preferably about 0.01 to 20 micrometers. The thickness d2 of the
central region 430 is preferably about 0.02 to 49.9 micrometers.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1B
