Embodiment 1

[0024] Vascular prostheses made of expanded PTFE (6 mm in diameter) were dipped in a 5% by weight solution of gentamicin palmitate in methanol for 60 seconds at room temperature. Then, the vascular PTFE prosthesis was dried at room temperature until a constant mass was achieved. The applied gentamicin palmitate coating was measured gravimetrically. The results showed a loading of 0.95 mg gentamicin palmitate per cm of vascular PTFE prosthesis. A scanning electron micrograph of the coated vascular PTFE prosthesis is shown in FIG. 1 .

Embodiment 2

[0026] Vascular prostheses made of expanded PTFE (diameter 6 mm) were dipped in 5% by weight gentamicin palmitate in methanol (containing 1% by weight argatro plaque) for 60 seconds at room temperature. Then, the vascular PTFE prosthesis was dried at room temperature until a constant mass was achieved. The applied gentamicin palmitate coating was measured gravimetrically. The results showed a gentamicin palmitate loading of 0.97 mg per cm of vascular PTFE prosthesis.

Abstract

Procedure for fitting of vascular implant with an active principle comprises immersing the implant body in an alcoholic solution or an alcoholic solution with a light volatile solvent e.g. chloroform, and a member of gentamicin palmitate, gentamicin myristate, gentamicin laurate, tobramycin palmitate, tobramycin myristate, tobramycin laurate, amikacin palmitate, amikacin myristate, amikacin laurate, vancomycin palmitate or vancomycin myristate, or sprinkling the alcoholic solution on the implant body; and vaporizing the solvent, where the active principle is antithrombosis. An independent claim is included for a coated vascular implant, produced by the above procedure, a further medicament material is dispersed or suspended in the coating.

Description

technical field [0001] The object of the present invention is the preparation of vascular grafts containing active ingredients. Background technique [0002] In vascular surgery, vascular prostheses are currently used on a large scale to treat vascular defects. Among them, porous PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) vascular prostheses and braided polyester prostheses (polyester fabrics) are used in particular. After implantation of a vascular prosthesis, a blood clot may form in the area of the vascular prosthesis during the first few hours when blood flow resumes. This can weaken or block blood flow, and the resulting clots can harbor bacteria. In the modern era of antibiotics, the problem of infected vascular prostheses remains a dire side effect and a potentially fatal hazard for patients. It may lead to loss of vascularized organs / sepsis, the result of which may be septic shock, resulting in death of the patient. [0003] For the above reasons, it is desirable to provid...
