Embodiment 1

[0028] This example demonstrates a method from solid TPGS TM Preparation of powdered TPGS TM Methods. Grinding Eastman Vitamin E TPGS at low temperature with a Spex Freezer / Mill TM 1000, N.F. Its purpose is to determine the range of particles obtained by cryogenic grinding.

[0029] Fill the freezing / grinding chamber with liquid nitrogen. Weigh 5 grams of vitamin ETPGS ground into pieces TM 1000, NF into a sample tube. Use a metal rod as an impactor into the TPGS TM Remove the debris from the sample tube and seal the sample tube. Put the sample into the working chamber and close the valve. Set the timer for a 6 minute run time after reducing the steam flow for about 4 minutes. The samples were removed from the chamber after six minutes and allowed to warm to room temperature. Remove TPGS from sample tube TM and particle size analysis. Primary particles are blue in color with a minimum particle size of about 0.5 microns.

Embodiment 2

[0031] This example demonstrates a method for preparing powdered TPGS from liquid material TM Methods. To 300 g of acetone was added 173 g of TPGS melting at 75°C TM . Stir this mixture until TPGS forms TM solution. Samples were spray dried using an APV Anhydro Lab Model 1 spray dryer. The atomization process used a spray dryer with 2 fluid nozzles and nitrogen as the atomizing gas. The solution was loaded into the dryer with a Masterflex pipeline pump. See Table 1 for operating conditions.

Abstract

The invention relates to a powdered tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate (TPGS) having an average particle size of less than about 1000 microns. In one embodiment, the powdered tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate is prepared by a process that includes atomizing a fluidic tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate into an environment suitable for solidifying the atomized tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate. In another embodiment, the powdered tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate is prepared by a process of applying a force to a solid tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate starting material that is sufficient to produce a powdered product.

Description

Background of the invention [0001] The invention relates to tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate powder and a preparation method thereof. [0002] Tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate can be prescribed in various foods and drugs, and its safety has been widely recognized. In general, the trade name Vitamin E TPGS is manufactured by Eastman Chemical Company TM The tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate is a water-soluble formulation of a fat-soluble vitamin disclosed in U.S. Patent 3,102,078 issued to Robeson on August 27, 1963 and in Patent 2,680,749 issued to Cawley et al on June 8, 1954 A lot of relevant information. Vitamin E TPGS TM The molecular weight of the tocopherol polyethylene glycol part contained in the 200-20,000 range, generally 400-10,000, preferably 400-3000, more preferably 400-2000, and the most preferred water-soluble vitamin The formulation is tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate with a molecular weight of 1000. The commercial product is...
