Embodiment Construction

[0037] In order to make the object, technical solution and advantages of the present invention clearer, the present invention will be described in further detail below in conjunction with specific embodiments and with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0038] The integrated optical vector-matrix multiplier proposed by the invention is realized by silicon-based nanowire waveguide, which uses laser pulses to represent binary digital information and completes the multiplication operation of vectors and matrices. Compared with various previous implementations, the outstanding advantages of the present invention are: the use of ready-made technology makes the device small in size, low in power consumption, good in scalability, and easy to integrate with electrical components; it uses laser pulses to transmit information at a high rate, The delay is small; the signal processing is carried out in a digital way, which avoids the disadvantages of poor precision and weak programma...

Abstract

The invention discloses a silicon-based integrated optical vector-matrix multiplier, which consists of nano-wire micro-ring resonators arranged periodically, and is used for realizing the multiplication of an N*N matrix and an N*1 vector, wherein elements in the N*N matrix and the N*1 vector are all 0 or 1. The optical vector-matrix multiplier is prepared from a silicon-on-insulator material, the basic units of the multiplier are the nano-wire micro-ring resonators (MRR), and the basic structure is the MRRs which are arranged in N*N and are provided with a thermal modulation mechanism respectively. The silicon-based integrated optical vector-matrix multiplier adopts the prior art, so that the device has small volume, low power consumption and good expansibility and is convenient to be integrated with an electrical element; the silicon-based integrated optical vector-matrix multiplier adopts laser pulses to transmit information, so the speed is high and the delay is short; a digital mode is utilized for processing signals, so the defect that an analog optical computing system has low accuracy and poor programmable capacity is avoided; and waveguides with a great refractive index difference are utilized to transmit light, so the problem that the space diversity efficiency of the conventional optical vector-matrix multiplier is low is avoided.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a vector-matrix multiplier realized by integrated optics, in particular to an optical vector-matrix multiplier realized by a silicon-based nanowire microring resonator. Background technique [0002] As the most widely used microprocessor, CPU is the most important functional unit in personal computers, servers, workstations and supercomputers. The core of the CPU is mainly divided into two parts: the arithmetic unit and the controller. The arithmetic unit includes an arithmetic logic unit ALU (Arithmetic and Logic Unit), a floating point unit FPU (Floating Point Unit), a general-purpose register bank and a special-purpose register bank. Among them, the ALU mainly completes fixed-point arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) of binary data, logic operations (and, or, negation, XOR) and shift operations, and it consists of two input terminals and one output terminal. What we usually say "CPU ...
