Abstract

The invention relates to a method for determining dosage of modifiers in SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene) modified asphalt by a solvent separation process. The method includes steps of (1), preparing SBS modified asphalt samples with standard concentrations of 2%, 4% and 6%; (2) weighing one of the three SBS modified asphalt samples with standard concentrations, adding organic solvent A into the sample, dissolving while stirring, then cooling, standing in a thermostatic water bath at a constant temperature and then centrifugally separating to obtain asphaltene and SBS indissolvable substances respectively; (3), dissolving the SBS indissolvable substances into organic solvent B, centrifugally separating until centrifugate is almost transparent so as to obtain SBS solution; (4), adding solvent into the solution and separating out SBS after distilling and recovering the organic solvent B, filtering the SBS by weighted filter paper, drying the filter paper until the weight thereof is constant, cooling filter paper to the room temperature, weighing the dried filter paper, and calculating SBS content in the modified asphalt; and (5), preparing three parallel samples to get an average value. The method is easy to operate and accurate and reliable in data determination.
