Adjustable Bolster Swing Legs for Mounting and Aligning and Reorienting Crawlers for Slipform Paving Machines

A paving machine which is configured to move in a paving direction for spreading, leveling and finishing concrete into a form having a generally upwardly exposed, finished concrete surface and terminating in lateral concrete sides. The paving machine has a main frame, including a center module, bolsters laterally movably connected to respective lateral sides of the center module for changing a spacing between the bolsters, and a crawler track associated with respective aft and forward ends of the bolsters. A bolster swing leg for each crawler track supports an upright jacking column secured to the swing leg proximate a free end thereof. A worm gear drive between the jacking column and the crawler track permits rotational movements of the crawler track and the jacking column about an upright axis. A hinge bracket is interposed between each swing leg and an associated surface of the bolsters and includes a fixed, upright pivot shaft that pivotally engages the swing leg to enable pivotal movements of the swing leg about an upright axis in a substantially horizontal plane. The hinge bracket further includes a pivot pin that is laterally spaced from and fixed in relation to the pivot shaft. A length-adjustable holder capable of being held at a fixed length has a first end pivotally engaging the pivot pin on the hinge bracket and a second end that pivotally engages the swing leg. The holder permits pivotal motions of the swing leg about the hinge pin when it is in its length-adjustable configuration and prevents substantially any motion of the swing leg when the holder is in its fixed-length configuration. A feedback loop cooperates with angular position transducers and automatically keeps the crawler tracks oriented in the paving direction of the machine when the swing legs move in a horizontal plane relative to a remainder of the paving machine. The paving machine can be reconfigured between its paving orientation and a road transport orientation by activating the crawlers to move the swing legs and the crawlers into a narrowed transport configuration.

A trash skimmer work boat collects and discharges debris from the front or bow. A storage conveyor positioned approximately amidships and along the center line, and is mounted to the hull on a slide or track arrangement that permits fore and aft motion. A collection and discharge conveyor is mounted at the bow portion of the hull. The forward conveyor can be oriented in a trash collection position or in a trash discharge position. The storage conveyor is brought sternward so that there is clearance for the proximal end of the forward conveyor to be raised or lowered, and then is brought back forward so that the storage conveyor is in position to receive debris or to discharge it. Auxiliary floats at the sides of the boat hull provide additional buoyant support for the front conveyor, and are detachable so they can be removed for road transport of the boat.

System and method for effectuating the acquisition and distribution of tracking data on mobile assets, including shipment containers used in freight transportation

A method and system for effectuating the optimum configuration of a duplex tracking device used to track the location and attributes of a mobile asset during a discrete event and the distribution of the data reported by the device so that the owner of the mobile asset and one or more of the owner's business partners can contemporaneously access the tracking data that they require. Each party first specifies a minimum configuration for all events with which they are associated, and then optionally specifies more extensive configurations for classes of discrete events. The owner may also constrain the data that partners can request by specifying access authorities for each class of business partners. The configuration parameters for a discrete event are systematically determined to minimize the data to be reported by the device while still meeting the requirements of all the parties, as constrained by the access authorities. Each party may then view and edit, as desired, the configuration until it is frozen prior to satellite transmission to the tracking device. The apparatus includes an internet-based program tool by which any participant can contemporaneously participate in the specification of the configuration parameters for the tracking device for a discrete event, and also access the data for events with which they are associated and generate exception reports. In a preferred embodiment, the mobile asset is a shipment container used to transport freight by ocean, rail, or road, the tracking device reports via satellite communications, the discrete event is a single shipment of goods from a origin location to a destination location, and the parties include the owner of the mobile asset (carrier), the owner of the contents (shipper), the receiver (consignee), and relevant logistics providers and regulatory agencies.
