Abstract

The invention relates to an application of swertianolin (chemical name is 1,5,8-trihydroxy-3-methoxy xanthone-8-oxy glucoside, swertianolin) shown as a formula (I) and extract thereof in preparation of a medicine used for preventing and treating arrhythmia. The invention also discloses a pharmaceutical composition containing the swertianolin or a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, excipient or diluter thereof as an active ingredient. Pharmacological experimental study results show that a swertianolin compound and an extract thereof have an antiarrhythmic effect, can obviously reduce atrioventricular block and ventricular tachycardia which are caused by aconitine and can reduce activity of blood serum myocardial enzyme during arrhythmia; and the swertianolin compound has similar pharmacological properties compared with a positive control lidocaine group. The study results of the invention provide powerful scientific basis for rational utilization of gentianella acuta Chinese herbal medicine.
