Abstract

The invention discloses a modified starch toughened polymethyl methacrylate composite material and a preparation method thereof. The composite material is prepared through blending, by weight, 60-99.5 parts of polymethyl methacrylate with 0.5-40 parts of starch-based toughening master batches; the starch-based toughening master batches are prepared from, by weight, 100 parts of modified starch, 50-200 parts of an alkene monomer, 0.5-10 parts of an initiator and 250-1000 parts of water. The modified starch toughened polymethyl methacrylate composite material is prepared by blending the components according to above use amounts. The modified starch is grafted to prepare the modified starch-based toughening master batches, and the modified starch-based toughening master batches are blended with the polymethyl methacrylate to obtain the composite material, and the sources of the toughening master batches are biodegradable, so the composite material has the advantages of environmental protection, low cost, and easiness in realization of industrial production.
