The preparation method comprises the following steps: (1) grinding magnesite into powder, and calcining at a certain temperature for a certain time to obtain powder taking magnesium oxide as a main component; (2) putting the calcined product obtained in step (1) into a mixed aqueous solution of sodium chloride and manganese nitrate, and stirring until the obtained mixture is uniformly mixed; and (3) drying the mixture obtained in step (2) at a certain temperature to obtain the hydrogen chloride magnesium-based adsorbent. The hydrogen chloride magnesium-based adsorbent obtained by the preparation method disclosed by the invention can keep good stability and has good acid gas adsorption capacity.
