Abstract

The invention discloses an additive for improving an activated carbon microporous structure and a method for preparing activated carbon by using the additive. The additive comprises asphalt, lignin, electrical tar or low-asphalt-content tar and coal tar. The asphalt provides a framework for the activated carbon; light oil in the tar is a lubricant; the electrical tar or the low-asphalt-content tarcan effectively fuse lignin to solve the problem that lignin and tar are difficult to fuse; and the lignin has a strong oxidation effect, so that gaps of the activated carbon can be changed, and thedevelopment of micropores below 2mm is promoted. The lignin and the binder coal tar can be well fused, so that the lignin can be uniformly dispersed, the uniformity of the activated carbon microporousstructure is ensured, and the strength of the activated carbon is further ensured. Besides, the lignin is used for improving the micropore structure of the activated carbon, increasing the number ofmicropores and improving the adsorption performance of the activated carbon, meanwhile, ash decomposition is promoted, the ash content is reduced, and the obtained activated carbon has the advantagesof being low in ash content, large in iodine value, high in strength and excellent in adsorption performance.
