The chrome-free tanning process solves the problem that in a traditional chrome tanning method, due to use of chrome powder, the ecological environment can be polluted. A chrome-free tanning technology based on POSS-COONa and non-chrome metal salt comprises the steps that firstly, pickled skin, water and salt are added into a rotary drum, the pH value of the solution is adjusted, and the rotary drum rotates for 60 min; adding POSS-COONa, and rotating for 4 to 12 hours; adjusting the pH value of the solution for multiple times by using a formic acid solution and rotating; and then adding a chromium-free metal salt, adjusting the pH value of the solution by using a sodium bicarbonate solution, heating, adding hot water at 50 DEG C, standing overnight, and washing the next day. According to the method, combined tanning is adopted, multi-point combination of collagenous fibers is facilitated, chrome-free tanning is achieved, tanning pollution is reduced, and clean production is achieved.
