A stable foam composition includes greater than about 40 weight percent of an alcohol, based upon the total weight of the alcoholic composition, and a foaming surfactant selected from fluorosurfactants, siloxane polymer surfactants, and combinations thereof. When the foaming surfactant includes a fluorosurfactant, the alcoholic composition further includes a polymeric or oligomeric foam stabilizer.

This invention relates to a “high lower alcohol content” (>40% v/v of a C_1-4 alcohol) liquid composition able to be dispensed as a stable foam with the use of non-propellant foam dispensing devices from non-pressurized containers. The liquid compositions comprise a C_1-4 alcohol, (>40% v/v), a silicone-based surfactant of at least 0.001% by weight for foaming to prepare a foamable composition, 0-10% w/w of additional minor components added to obtain the desired performance (a foamable composition), and the balance being purified water. A composition is provided comprising two liquids which are separately maintained prior to forming an admixture during delivery to a surface to be treated, whereupon the admixture generates a foam sufficient for cleaning efficacy and stability. A first liquid preferably includes a hypohalite, or a hypohalite generating agent and a second liquid preferably includes a peroxygen agent. As the two liquids are initially separated, the hypohalite generating agent can be maintained in an environment free of peroxygen agent and otherwise conducive to their cleaning activity and stability up to the time of use. A method of cleaning drains is provided which comprises the step of pouring into a drain at least one liquid which generates foam in situ, the foam characterized by a density of at least about 0.1 g/ml, a half life of greater than about thirty minutes, a volume of at least about 500 ml, and wherein the foam contains a cleaning-effective amount of a drain cleaning active.

A cleaning composition is provided. The cleaning composition includes an anionic surfactant and a water hardness anti-precipitant mixture. The water hardness anti-precipitant mixture includes a dispersant and at least one of a sheeting agent and a humectant. The weight ratio of the dispersant to the total amount of the sheeting agent and the humectant can be at least about 1:75 and less than about 75:1. Methods for providing and using a ready to use cleaning composition are provided.

An improved quick breaking foam carpet cleaner is provided. Good cleaning is achieved and the foam breaks quickly, allowing for quicker cleaning and use of the carpet without the need for subsequent vacuuming.
