Foot-controlled motorized vehicle

InactiveUS7293622B1Unique visual appealBig market advantageSnowboardsElectric propulsion mountingConstant-velocity jointIncrease weight
A weight-controlled, motorized vehicle can be accelerated in either direction, steered, or decelerated without hand controls and without repositioning of a rider situated atop the vehicle. Like a skateboard, the vehicle is normally ridden by a rider standing upon a platform on top of the vehicle with one foot in front of the other. The vehicle is propelled forward when the rider increases weight on the front portion of the platform and backward when weight is increased on the rear portion. The vehicle is steered like a skateboard, by tilting the platform from side-to-side. An improved drive system utilizes a single front drive wheel to power and steer the vehicle. The drive system eliminates need of a flexible power transmission coupling such as a U-joint or constant-velocity joint. It also eliminates need of the differential mechanism normally required for two laterally spaced drive wheels.

Method and device for the automated application of paint film to bodywork parts

A method and a device for the automated application of a self-adhesive paint film to a three-dimensionally curved bodywork part, using a robotic application tool, the paint film being held ready in the form of a multi-layered film composite ready for picking up. After picking up has taken place, a protective strip on the adhesive side is removed from the film section, which is held taut, by means of a contact piece attached to the film composite on the end side and the adhesive side of the film section is thereby exposed. The paint film section is subsequently aligned above the body part to be covered, at a small distance from it, and is progressively pressed onto the bodywork part from the spaced-apart, taut position by means of a roller or doctor moving over the paint film. In order to be able to apply even large or curved paint film sections without creases and at justifiable tool costs, use is made of a rectangular film composite which protrudes on all sides over the bodywork portion to be covered and is secured on all four sides in a rectangular suction frame. As a result, during the application of the paint film, the latter is held under tensile stress in the longitudinal direction and in the transverse direction. To simplify the tool, the protective strip on the adhesive side is removed from the paint film in a stationary manner.

Ski with replaceable edge

The invention disclosed herein provides a replaceable edge cassette for skis or a snowboard. The skis have a top, a base, a core, two sides, and edges along the sides of the base. The cassette includes an edge portion removably secured adjacent the base of the ski. The edge portion has an attachment portion for securing the edge portion to the ski and a peripheral portion for contact with the surface to be ridden. The cassette includes a sidewall portion secured to the edge portion. A fastener is connectable through the sidewall portion to be secured to the ski adjacent the core. Base material is also secured beneath the removable edge portion so as to be adjacent the main base portion when the cassette is secured to the side of the ski. The edge cassette is removable and replaceable by removing the fasteners secured through the sidewall. The edge alone may also be separately replaceable by removing it from the sidewall portion.

Rebreather vest

A closed circuit rebreather uses a vest with an air tight internal cavity that has a channel therein, the channel passing through a series of passageways either on a single layer or a double layer. Located throughout the length of the channel is a CO2 scrubbing material. A person exhales which causes the exhaled breath to enter one end of the channel and pass through the channel while being scrubbed of CO2 and when the user inhales, fully scrubbed air is drawn from the opposing end of the channel. Appropriate spacers, either V-shaped separators or ribs of various designs can be used to hold the channel open.

Ship with wave energy engulfing propulsors

Presented is a water propulsion systern for ships that enhances the efficiency of both the water propulsor(s) and the ship itself. This is accomplished by location of water inlet(s) for the water propulsor(s) to take advantage of water flow characteristics around a secondary bow of the ship and also proximal a stern of the ship. A primary object is to reduce the energy of the bow and / or stern waves of the ship and hence reduce the ship's wave making resistance. A secondary object is to reduce the frictional resistance of the ship. The water propulsors are preferably electrically driven with built in stator field windings and armatured rotors. A bow oriented water propulsor(s) would preferably have its discharge into a gas cavity in the underside of the ship. Both bow oriented and stern oriented water propulsor(s) would optimally have steering and / or reversing mechanisms.
