Abstract

The poly(4-styrenesulfonic acid-co-maleic acid) sodium has strong cluster of differentiation4 (CD4) independent human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1 infection resistance, and represents good activity on certain clinical isolated strains, including B', B'C and CRF01-AE recombinant subtype. Furthermore, the poly(4-styrenesulfonic acid-co-maleic acid) sodium has good infection resistance on CD4 non-independent HIV-1 infection. In-vitro toxicity experiments on the poly(4-styrenesulfonic acid-co-maleic acid) sodium prove that: the compound has lower toxicity. Finally, cell fusion experiment results prove that the poly(4-styrenesulfonic acid-co-maleic acid) sodium has the effect of inhibiting HIV-1 virus envelop protein gp120 mediated fusing process.
