Previous experiments have demonstrated the variability of barium titanate powders when the synthesized gels are used more than one week before they are used in the synthesis of barium titanate powders. The unfavorable room temperature aging effect is similar to the Ostwald ripening effect of very fine colloidal systems. Only one batch of gels was used to avoid results based on gel batch variability. Aging problems can be avoided by freezing titania gels in 100 ml aliquots.
