Trapping device

A trapping device includes upper lure and lower detention compartments, and a trapping mechanism. The trapping mechanism includes infrared sensors provided in the lure compartment, first and second trapdoors, and a control circuit board for receiving signals from the infrared sensors to pivotally turn the first and the second trapdoor. When an animal / insect enters the lure compartment and passes through the infrared sensors, the first trapdoor is pivotally turned from a horizontal to a vertical position to confine the animal / insect in a rear room of the lure compartment, and the second trapdoor from a horizontal to a vertical position to open a floor opening communicating the lure and the detention compartment to trap the animal / insect in the detention compartment. Cover assembly for an in-floor fitting

A cover assembly is provided for preventing water infiltration into an in-floor receptacle fitting, such as a poke-thru fitting. The cover assembly includes a trim flange which overlies the fitting and is adapted to support at least one receptacle within the fitting. A cover plate is mounted on the trim flange includes access doors for selectively covering and exposing the receptacles. A first seal member is interposed between the cover plate and the trim flange for sealing against water infiltration therebetween. The first seal may be in the form of a planar gasket or O-ring. A second seal, in the form of at least one compressible gasket, extends around the perimeter of the floor opening and is adapted to be compressed between the trim flange and the surface of the floor. The cover plate may also include top and bottom portions and a third seal member interposed between the top and bottom portions.

Lead-acid safety battery cap

A battery cap is provided for engagement in a fill port of a cell of a deep cycle, lead-acid electrical storage battery. The battery cap is formed of a hollow, tubular body having an upper end with an expansive mouth opening, and a lower end at which a transverse floor extends radially inwardly. The floor includes a central, annular convex downwardly projecting portion that defines a central fluid passage opening. The interior of the tubular wall defines a radially inwardly projecting flame arrester seat spaced from both the upper and lower ends of the body. A pair of gas escape ports are defined in the tubular wall between the flame arrester seat and the mouth opening. A diverter is located in the lower portion of the tubular body beneath a disc shaped micropore filter that serves as the flame arrester and which is seated on the flame arrester seat. The diverter is formed with a generally disc shaped, horizontal plate having diametrically opposed notches at its peripheral edge and a pair of legs of that have an arcuate cross-section and which rest upon the floor to partially surround the central opening in the floor. A battery cap having this internal structure causes drops of electrolyte to intermittently lodge in the central floor opening, thereby forming a temporary fluid seal that is repeatedly broken to allow venting of gas and reestablished to aid in protecting the micropore filter from contaminants.

Lead-acid safety battery cap

A battery cap is provided for engagement in a fill port of a cell of a deep cycle, lead-acid electrical storage battery. The battery cap is formed of a hollow, tubular body having an upper end with an expansive mouth opening, and a lower end at which a transverse floor extends radially inwardly. The floor includes a central, annular convex downwardly projecting portion that defines a central fluid passage opening. The interior of the tubular wall defines a radially inwardly projecting flame arrester seat spaced from both the upper and lower ends of the body. Hold open arm assembly

A hold open arm assembly for a non-vertically hinged door prevents a door for a roof or floor opening from closing unexpectedly and allows one-handed operation. The assembly includes an elongated arm that bears directly against a stop aligned with the axis of the arm when a closing force, such as a wind load, is applied directly to the door. The arm has a guide that engages a guide slot in a bracket attached to the door. The guide slot is tapered and widens near the stop. When a closing force is applied to a handle connected to the arm, the guide moves parallel to the guide slot and the arm clears the stop, allowing the door to close. When the closing force is applied to the door, and not the handle, the guide moves perpendicular to the guide slot so that the arm engages the stop. The guide is provided with a low friction roller bearing for smooth operation.

Under floor storage system for building

A storage system for a building such as a house. Specially sized containers are kept in the unused space under the raised floor of a building. An opening in the floor provides access, and is closeable by a cover. A translation means supports the containers, and moves them from exactly under the opening to a space for stowage. The preferred translation means includes a rail system supporting a train of serially coupled wagons. Each wagon has a guard sized to receive matingly one container. The train is moveable to align one of the wagons with the floor opening, for access of its container. A dust cover protects the contents. Being transparent, the cover allows quick inspection of the contents. A jack includes moving arms that push the container upwards through an opening in the wagon, and then also through the floor opening. The rail system includes rails that are closed loop, and are either attached to the underside of the floor, or supported by the grade. A drive moves the train by engaging at least one of the wagons. The system can be retrofitted in an existing building, or can be installed with a new building.

Elevator door safety lock system

An elevator door safety lock system ensures that an elevator door remains securely closed when it is not aligned with one of a plurality of floor openings. The safety lock system includes a vertical position sensor which includes an RFID reader disposed on the elevator and a plurality of RFID tags each disposed in the shaft at a different floor opening. The reader identifies when it is aligned or non-aligned with any tag indicating when the elevator is aligned and non-aligned with a floor opening. A control unit communicates with the safety lock system and an elevator controller. A door monitor indicates if the elevator door is open or closed and an engagement sensor detects whether the door lock is engaged.

Method of Circulating While Retrieving Downhole Tool in Casing

Retrieving a down hole tool at a lower end of a string of casing can be performed with drill pipe during a casing-while-drilling operation. The operator suspends the casing in the well from a drilling rig floor opening. A string drill pipe is lowered into the casing while the casing is suspended for engaging and retrieving the down hole tool. When circulation is desired, the operator secures a circulation tool to an upper end of the drill pipe, then lowers the drill pipe and the circulation tool to close off an upper end of an inner annulus between the drill pipe and the casing. The operator circulates fluid down the circulation tool and the drill pipe and back up an outer annulus surrounding the casing. The connection between the circulation tool and the casing allows the operator to reciprocate the casing.

Method of Circulating While Retrieving Bottom Hole Assembly in Casing

Retrieving a down hole tool at a lower end of a string of casing can be performed with drill pipe during a casing-while-drilling operation. The operator suspends the casing on a landing sub landed in a drilling rig floor opening. A string of drill pipe is lowered into the casing while the casing is suspended for engaging and retrieving the down hole tool. A spillage preventer in the landing sub prevents spillage of drilling fluid as the drill pipe is being retrieved. When circulation is desired, the operator secures a circulation tool to an upper end of the drill pipe, then lowers the drill pipe and the circulation tool to close off an upper end of an inner annulus between the drill pipe and the casing. A connection between the circulation tool and the landing sub allows the operator to reciprocate the casing.

Toolless, self closing floor grommet closure for cable openings and the like in raised floors of data centers office buildings and other air conditioned structures

A floor grommet for use in building and office structures supplied with air conditioning via under floor plenum. Directed flow of conditioned air is optimized by limiting the escape of air from the plenum into the space above the floor by leakage through floor openings provided for power cables, data cables and the like. Specialized floor grommets installed in the cable openings are comprised of a surrounding frame mounting sealing elements comprised of thin, flexible elements which are anchored at one end in the grommet frame and extend toward the center of the opening, from each side, to effectively close the opening against significant flow of conditioned air from the plenum below. Cables passing through the grommet opening cause minimal deflection of the flexible elements to limit the escape of conditioned air. Preferably, the resilient, flexible elements are filamentary in nature. To particular advantage, the filamentary sealing elements may be installed in multiple stages, with stages underneath being in contact with stages above, in outer portions thereof. Additionally, solid, van-like sealing elements may be provided to assist in centering of the cable elements, when cables are installed, and to provide a substantially complete seal, for those openings in which no cables are installed. The floor grommet of the invention is designed for initial or retrofit installation. Significant economies in the usage of conditioned air are realized when the floor grommets are employed.

Diffuser Mounting Flange

A mounting flange for attaching an HVAC air diffuser terminal in an opening in a floor or other mounting surface. The mounting flange includes a trim ring and a flange clip. The flange clip is adjustably and movably received in a slot defined a side of the trim ring. A pawl on the flange clip engages with ratchets defined in a surface of the trim ring adjacent to the slot to maintain the flange clip in selected position relative the underside of a floor. The air diffuser terminal is secured in the floor opening between gripping surfaces on the flange clip and the trim ring. An optional screw operably connects the flange clip with the trim ring so that the diffuser may be securely tightened in the floor opening.

In a wastewater treatment system, a suction duct clarifier is converted to a suction pipe clarifier without penetrating existing concrete at the base of the tank. An elevated sludge collection box is added, positioned on the center column to rotate with rake arms, and a series of sludge riser pipes extend from the rake arms up into the sludge collection box for sludge delivery by hydraulic pressure differential. A sludge discharge downpipe is provided within the center / influent column for delivery of sludge from the collection box, and at the bottom of this pipe, above the tank floor, the discharge pipe exits through an opening in the center / influent column. At the outside of this opening is a sludge transfer box that receives sludge exiting the discharge pipe and conveys it down through the existing floor opening and to the existing under-floor RAS return pipe.
