The veterinary disinfectant consists of the following components in percentage by weight: 5-25 percent of glutaraldehyde, 5-15 percent of benzalkonium bromide, 2-4 percent of turpentine oil, 0.5-4 percent of terpineol and the balance of purified water. A preparation method of the veterinary disinfectant comprises the following steps of: adding the glutaraldehyde and the benzalkonium bromide into a container, uniformly stirring and standing; adding the turpentine oil and the terpineol, and stirring while adding until solution is clarified; and finally filtering. Compared with the conventional aldehyde or quaternary ammonium salt and compound disinfectant thereof, the disinfectant has the advantages that the character is greatly improved, the sterilization effect is enhanced, and high stability is realized.
